The survival action thriller is almost exclusively put on the weight of their mighty shoulders, as the story follows Theron's Sasha as she fights for survival in the Australian wilderness as Egerton's Ben hunts her.
Featuring gripping, practical set pieces and major stars, Apex has proven to be quite a popular release for Netflix. The movie's ability to capture the attention of subscribers shouldn't be too surprising given the genre and talent attached.
However, its staying power is notable. It's spent four weeks in Netflix's top 10 global charts, and the strong viewership figures position it go down as one of the streamer's greatest hits. Apex Has Been A Huge Hit For Netflix For Weeks When Apex hit Netflix on April 24, the movie wasted no time becoming a dominant title. It immediately jumped to the top of Netflix's streaming charts across the entire world, including in the United States.
The film pulled in 38.2 million views during its first three days of release, making it the No. 1 ranked movie on Netflix from April 19 to 26. Over the next week, Apex pulled in another 40.2 million views and retained its position as the most-watched movie on the streamer. Four weeks in, Egerton and Theron's action thriller is still drawing considerable interest. It's given it a total of 105.2 million views as of May 17.
While Apex has dropped out of the top 10 in the United States, it remains a popular title with international viewers. According to FlixPatrol, the movie is currently the No. 4 movie in the world. It was No. 3 yesterday, May 19. Interest should remain for the next several weeks, which can allow it to spend more time in the top 10 weekly charts.
As it currently stands, Apex is one of Netflix's biggest movies of 2026. But if it can continue on its current trajectory, it will vault itself into another category and cement its legacy as a title the streamer will always hold in high regard. That list, which is headlined by KPop Demon Hunters' record-shattering 325.1 million views in its first 91 days, has Millie Bobby Brown's fantasy film, Damsel, clinging to the 10th spot after garnering 138 million views. Considering the movie has another eight weeks after that to collect views before reaching the end of Netflix's period to qualify for the top 10 all-time list, steady interest should help it pass Damsel. Depending on how strong Apex's legs are, it could go much higher than 10th. Projections from What's On Netflix give it a best-case scenario of finishing with 165.2 million views. That would be enough to jump into the top 5 on Netflix's all-time chart.
The baseline safer projection is 144.7 million views, which would put Apex in 8th.
