I’ve been writing about video games, television and movies for Forbes for over 10 years, and you may have seen my reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. I cover all manner of console and PC games, but if it’s about looting or shooting, I’m definitely there. If I’m watching something, it’s usually science fiction, horror or superheroic.
Netflix just added a bunch of series from AMC as part of a licensing deal that now means there’s a load of new content on the platform. This contains all manner of shows including some very bad ones , but at least one supremely excellent one, which is definitely the best new mystery/crime series added to Netflix in recent memory.
“Set in 1971 on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley, Dark Winds follows Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn of the Tribal Police as he is besieged by a series of seemingly unrelated crimes. The closer he digs to the truth, the more he exposes the wounds of his past. He is joined on this journey by his new deputy, Jim Chee. Chee, too, has old scores to settle from his youth on the reservation.
It’s also a series you can feel safe investing in as yes, it’s been confirmed by AMC that there will be a third season of Dark Winds, but after a bit of a delay, and that will arrive some time in 2025, with no date set yet. It wasn’t super well-watched, but it’s not exactly expensive and the show is doingdrawing a lot of viewers there. It’s beating out AMC’s A Discovery of Witches at #4 and Fear the Walking Dead at #6. Mayfair Witches is at #10.
