The partnership that no one saw coming 😳 Netflix Microsoft TechNave

. The move to introduce such a plan was announced back in April this year following Netflix's struggles in retaining and adding subscribers.

In a statement yesterday, Netflix COO Greg Peters said that Microsoft has all the ability to support all of the streaming service’s needs as they together build a new ad-supported offering. As reported by , Netflix further elaborated that Microsoft also offered the flexibility to innovate over time on both the technology and sales side, as well as provide strong privacy protections for the platform’s subscribers.

Previously, Netflix was reportedly interviewing potential partners over the past several months, including Comcast and Google. Ultimately, a partnership with Microsoft was seen as the most ideal for both companies as unlike Comcast and Google, Microsoft do not have any streaming service or content platform.

While the partnership between the two companies have been announced, the ad-supported subscription plan itself won’t debut any time soon. Peters asserted that the plan is still at its ‘very early days’ and that there’s ‘much to work through’ still. So, what do you guys think of this partnership between Netflix and Microsoft?
