Launched in 2007, Netflix has long reigned as the undisputed king of streaming, with nearly 270 million current subscribers, outpacing the second-place Prime Video by tens of millions.
The post, as seen above, reads, "You can’t spell Netflix without NFL. Netflix will be the home to watch the NFL’s 2024 Christmas Day games LIVE!" In addition, the service will stream at least one Christmas Day game in 2025 and 2026 as part of a three-year deal. Netflix's Bela Bajaria and the NFL's Hans Schroeder shared the following statements:
Schroeder : We couldn’t be more excited to be the first professional sports league to partner with Netflix to bring live games to fans around the world. The NFL on Christmas has become a tradition and to partner with Netflix, a service whose biggest day of the year is typically this holiday, is the perfect combination to grow this event globally for NFL fans.
Why Netflix's NFL Christmas Day Deal Is Groundbreaking Hosting Christmas Day games will be Netflix's first foray into live NFL football, and it is clearly a move to keep up with its competitors. Prime Video has been hosting the NFL's Thursday Night Football since 2021 when Amazon acquired the exclusive rights to TNF, marking the first time the NFL sold broadcast rights to a streaming service.
