Netflix's Temptation Island's girlfriends with the tempting single men.

When it comes to reality dating shows, no streaming service is doing it like Netflix. From blind love to shocking ultimatums, the platform has become the host for some of the biggest dating dramas that this genre has ever seen.

And fans were thrilled earlier this year when Temptation Island joined that illustrious group, becoming one of the most popular reality series the streaming service has ever put out — though you wouldn't know that by the treatment it received. This series offers the shocking chaos that viewers have come to expect from Netflix; it follows a group of couples who are split into different villas wother romantic social experimentshere a group of"sexy singles" try to tempt them into cheating on their partner. It is so similar to the other romantic social experiments that fans love, yet despite this, it was robbed of not only any substantial marketing but the release schedule of its more established contemporaries. It not only robbed viewers of seeing more of the setup and characters that they grew to love, but it taught Netflix a valuable lesson about the series they for some reason wanted to ignore: you need to have more faith in Temptation Island! Netflix Had Less Faith Than Some of These Singles on 'Temptation Island' While many fans are barely learning about Temptation Island because of its recent Netflix season, this premise has actually been testing couples for more than two decades. Originally a Fox program, it sees a group of singles intent on testing their faithfulness in the most intense way possible, with the group being split up by gender and placed into villas where a group of singles try to tempt them into cheating. It's a premise that offers not only intense chaos, but also a surprising amount of heart; while it's sadly common for these couples to blow up in messy cases of infidelity the ones that remain faithful are some of the best examples of romance reality TV has to offer. Temptation Island has hopped around many networks during its long history, with the latest version being hailed as the best one yet. It offered all the hallmarks of the Netflix's other romance shows like Love is Blind and Too Hot to Handle, with viewers not only becoming invested in the participants but being shocked by the wild storylines and twists that each relationship is forced to endure. On paper, it's very similar to the platform's other hit reality shows, and it somehow managed to be even better in execution — so why did Netflix try so hard to ignore it? For dating shows especially, keen-eyed audiences can tell when Netflix has no faith in one of its programs doing well. Whether it be a distinct lack of marketing, dumping all of the episodes at once, or refusing to give a season a reunion episode, there are many telltale signs that the conglomerate doesn't think a show will thrive — with all of these appearing in the quiet way Temptation Island was dumped on the platform. It's understandable why Netflix would have some reservations; the series had already failed on multiple other networks, so they might have worried it would do the same on this one. But it's unfortunate that the company didn't know its own audience, not recognizing how similarly astounding this series is to its other hit shows or how a bigger marketing push could have made up for any initial hesitancy watchers may have had. Because of this, fans were not only robbed of a more intense viewing experience but lost time with the characters they spent a season falling in love with. It was an unfortunate decision from a service that is constantly one of the best reality show distributors out there, and it hurt the huge popularity that Temptation Island clearly could have had. Related 'Temptation Island' Is the Perfect Watch After 'Love Is Blind' It might be time to try a Netflix reality show that fully embraces the chaos: 'Temptation Island.' Posts ‘Temptation Island’ Deserves More in Season Two Close While it's unfortunate that Netflix couldn't see that Temptation Island was literally built to be a legendary reality show, that doesn't mean the series won't ever get the all-star treatment it deserves. It has already been renewed for a sophomore season, and with the clear love people have for this initial installment, it's probable that the platform will finally give it the good marketing and satisfying format of its peers. Audiences are hopeful that these changes will not only introduce more people to the show but give the people at its center more time to shine — something that this first season cast really deserved. Because no matter what changes happen, it's undeniable that the members of Temptation Island's first season were cost valuable time and space to tell their genuine stories. And if Netflix has learned anything, it's to prevent this from happening by being more faithful to its own project...more faithful than the people on this show, at least!
