Netflix is adapting Hannah Grace 's popular ice hockey romance novel, Icebreaker , into a series. The first book in the Maple Hill trilogy, Icebreaker , has become a sensation on BookTok and reached the New York Times bestseller list, staying for 70 consecutive weeks.
It has also sold nearly 5 million copies globally and been translated into 24 languages, distributed across 34 territories. The series will follow Anastasia Allen, a competitive figure skater aiming to win the Olympic gold, and Nate Hawkins, a hockey player with similar ambitions. After an accident, the pair are forced to share an ice rink and sparks a cold rivalry, but they also develop a mutual attraction.
The show will be run by Amanda Lasher, who has previously worked on Gossip Girl and Togetherness, and will be written by Lasher and Jade Bartlett, who developed and wrote the pilot. Lasher expressed her excitement to be working on the series, citing her love for the steamy YA genre and her joy in collaborating with the team at Unwell and Netflix to bring Hannah Grace's beloved novel to the screen.
