Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address a joint session of Congress, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., announced Thursday.
Johnson had previously said he would invite Netanyahu to the House regardless of whether Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer agreed to a joint invitation.“Tonight, I’m happy to announce something else to you: that we will soon be hosting Prime Minister Netanyahu at the Capitol for a joint session of Congress,” Johnson said in a speech marking Israel’s independence, hosted by the Israeli Embassy.
Johnson had said he would invite Netanyahu to the House regardless of whether Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., agreed to a joint invitation. Johnson said Tuesday that he had given Schumer a deadline to sign a joint letter inviting Netanyahu to a joint session of Congress.
