45Q helps NET Power launch by offering a $50 tax credit for every ton of carbon sequestered. The NET Power plant captures all of its CO2 as part of its process, recycles some and diverts some for sale. Goff does not expect those prices to hold, because 45Q expires for plants built after 2024, and the value of nitrogen and argon will drop as NET Power plants bring more to market.
