The Asian Art Museum's new exhibit celebrates both ancient China and sci-fi futurism.

which opened Friday, is a flashy anime-style comic book come to life from the mind of Chinese artist Kong Khong-chang, known as Kongkee, who was born in Malaysia in 1977 and raised in Hong Kong. He now lives in London working as an animation director. The exhibit is full of candy-colored artwork that ranges from a very Instagram-friendly neon sign to a 30-minute animated sci-fi video.

The maximalist mixed-media approach includes looping video art, a sound installation, optical illusions and even genuine artifacts from China's Warring States Period .
