While short in length, “Deep.End Ent.” is a confident debut, brimming with lush instrumentation and rich vocal harmonies and styling.

Good music, like life, takes time to develop. A perfect thing doesn’t spring up out of thin air, and it is this philosophy that runs through the creative process of Karma Fête, a relatively new neo-soul collective.

Later, they came into the studio one to two times per week for jam sessions. Those jam sessions developed into six songs, but only one ended up making the cut — their first single, “Fade,” released in 2019.“It was like a long incubation period of making beats and exchanging ideas. And then that first single, I feel like, was the first one where the process was really joined,” said Bain-Selbo.rather than trying to mimic the sounds or aesthetics of other beloved artists.

Adding new band members was another big change in the creative process. When they can, they meet with the other band members once a week. Bain-Selbo will arrive at rehearsal sessions with something to work on and the band will jam to pick out ideas and build new songs.

Karasi’s interest in neuroscience, which they studied during their first few years in college before switching majors, infiltrates Karma Fête’s music.
