The North East Ohio Sewer District has lifted the swim advisory put out Monday afternoon following a combined sewer overflow event.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -
The overflow happened Monday, officials say, with almost a year since the last overflow on August 23, 2023. “This overflow resulted from a large storm that exceeded the capacity of the sewer system, discharging a combination of sewage and stormwater into Lake Erie,” the release from the sewer district says.
Sewer District crews sampled water twice a day around Edgewater, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, officials say. The sewer district announced Thursday afternoon that 10 samples show bacteria levels below the recreational threshold set by Ohio EPA.
