Saks Global, the parent company of Dallas-based Neiman Marcus , announced on Thursday the sale of its Willow Bend location in Plano. The company confirmed the sale to the developer currently overseeing the redevelopment of The Shops at Willow Bend . Despite the sale, the store will remain operational until January 2027, allowing the developer ample time to execute various phases of the area's transformation.
Both parties described the decision as mutual, acknowledging the opportunity for the developer to realize its vision for the district by incorporating new residential, dining, and entertainment elements while building upon the existing retail foundation. This move also enables Saks Global to strategically allocate resources towards areas of its business that demonstrate growth potential and contribute to the company's long-term success. Saks Global routinely assesses its store network to ensure optimal performance. This process may occasionally necessitate store reformatting or closure. However, the company emphasized that there are currently no plans for a widespread reduction in its store portfolio. Dallas-Fort Worth remains a significant market for Saks Global. They are actively collaborating with the City of Dallas on a potential redevelopment of the Neiman Marcus Downtown Dallas store, which has a rich history spanning over a century. The company is also making significant progress on the upcoming transformation of the Neiman Marcus NorthPark store. Saks Global underscored its commitment to treating Neiman Marcus Willow Bend employees with respect and fairness throughout the transition. Transfer opportunities to other stores within the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area will be explored whenever possible, and eligible employees will receive appropriate separation packages. Furthermore, Saks Global CEO Marc Metrick conveyed his unwavering dedication to the Neiman Marcus brand, particularly in Dallas. He emphasized that this decision is not indicative of any intention to compromise the legacy of the renowned department store in the city
