A local legend
A much-loved member of the Pendle community has passed away, with neighbours and locals paying tribute to their friend.
Vicki explained that her mum's ill-health started around four years ago, while on holiday, Vera fell in the bath and upon her return, found she had 'smashed' a number of vertebrae in her spine. As this happened just before the coronavirus pandemic took a hold, Vera was admitted into a care home to recuperate, due to her lack of mobility.
Living in relative health for the next few years, Vera was much loved in the community, having always been a prominent part of the area. Having lived in Brierfield for over 40 years, people got to know her and many would even pop in for a chat when they saw Vera sat outside on the end of her house.Vera's funeral took place on Thursday, July 28, which Vicki described as "fantastic".
