Raul Meza Jr. is accused of killing Gloria Lofton in 2019 and Jesse Fraga in 2023. Police say he could be linked to up to 10 cold cases.
As Old San Antonio Road isn't classified as a residential road, the city can't do as much to address speed, like adding bumps or other measures.
"This road is not equipped to have this amount of road traffic on it," said neighbor Belynda Montgomery. Officials with Austin's transportation department tell KVUE that"the area of Old San Antonio Road on the back side of Akins High School is listed in the plan as a Very High Priority for sidewalk installation. The city's goal is to address all very high and high priority sidewalks and shared streets within 10 years."
