Two people died in the overnight blaze in Middle Paxton Township.

Michelle Sandom was asleep in her Middle Paxton Township home early Thursday when she heard what sounded like fireworks outside.

Looking out her window in the Fishing Creek Estates neighborhood, she saw a large wall of fire coming from a home on nearby Fishing Creek Valley Road. She grabbed her phone and called 911 around 1:18 a.m.Fishing Creek Valley Road was shut down during the firefight but has since reopened.“I gathered all of my important documents and got my cats in the car just in case we needed to go,” she said. “There were some embers that landed on the roof and trees. It was really scary.
