Nehawu members who fail to report for duty to face charges, says health minister
This was announced by Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla on Monday evening. He provided clarity on issues relating to the Labour Court judgment that interdicted the National Education, Health, and Allied Workers' Union ’s strike with immediate effect. The strike has been ongoing for a week. He stated:
“As already indicated, any employee who fails to comply with the court order will be committing an act of misconduct subject to disciplinary action, including possible dismissal,” Phaahla added.Phaahla said any person committing any criminal acts in pursuit of the strike action would be subjected to criminal proceedings by the law enforcement agencies and that all managers were obliged to apply the principle of ‘no work, no pay’ with immediate effect.
He also shared clarity on the issue of the members of the SA National Defence Force who were seen outside Thelle Mogoerane and Sebokeng hospitals on Monday, stating:
