Nehawu has been locked in a wage dispute with the government. The department offered a 4.7% increase while unions are demanding between 10% and 12%.
A handful of members from the National Education Health and Allied Workers’ Union are protested outside the Tambo Memorial Hospital yesterday morning as part of the national strike led by the union.
“However, staff members, patients and ambulances can access the hospital premises and there are no obstructions,” Nzeku added.“It has been confirmed that some of our staff members who are part of the union are participating in the strike. The majority of employees reported for work and services continue.”
