BACOLOD CITY – The provincial government recently turned over P3.4-million worth of assistance to livestock and poultry farmers from three towns and five cities in the second and third districts of Negros Occidental affected by typhoon “Odette” in 2021.
BENEFICIARIES receive livelihood assistance from the Department of Agriculture -Western Visayas and the provincial government of Negros Occidental worth P3.4 million during the turnover ceremony at the E.B. Magalona public plaza on Wednesday, October 11.
Beneficiaries were from Manapla, E.B. Magalona, and Murcia, and the cities of Cadiz, Sagay, Talisay, Silay, and Victorias.Dr. Placeda Lemana, provincial veterinarian, said funds for the assistance were a component of the P36.5-million Negros Occidental Typhoon Odette Livestock and Poultry Rehabilitation Program sourced from the Quick Response Fund of the Department of Agriculture .
Local officials encouraged the beneficiaries to cooperate in the re-dispersal program of the provincial government to enable more livestock and poultry raisers in the province to avail of similar assistance.E.B. Magalona, being the host of the ceremonial turnover of assistance, also received 600 free-range chicks and 15 pullets that will be given to its swine raisers.
