Nearly 80% of vaccine-hesitant Americans won’t get the shot, a new poll found — but the U.S. can still hit Biden’s 70% goal
24% of Americans still do not plan to get vaccinated against Covid-19, though 76% either have beenThe poll, conducted May 18-23 among 3,572 U.S. adults, found 64% of respondents were either fully or partially vaccinated—in line with the 63.5% of U.S. adults that the Centers for Disease Control and Preventionhave gotten at least one shot—while 12% still plan to get the vaccine and 24% do not plan to get it.
Approximately one in five vaccine-hesitant respondents could be persuaded, however: two percent say they’re “very likely” to change their mind and 19% say they’re “somewhat likely” to change it, which Gallup calculates is equivalent to five percent of all U.S. adults. The demographics that are still most likely to be vaccine-resistant are Republicans , Americans without a college degree and middle-aged Americans , according to the poll.
