- Dozens of people were arrested following a protest that disrupted traffic on westbound I-676 at Broad Street Saturday afternoon, according to police.
Philadelphia Police responded to the protest on westbound I-676 at Broad Street just before 4 p.m. where they said approximately 350 members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation had rushed into traffic as part of a public demonstration.According to the department, eventually hundreds of people "peacefully dispersed from the area" and began walking through Center City "without incident.
Multiple protesters stayed on I-676 westbound and were arrested by Pennsylvania State Police. In an update Sunday afternoon, PSP said 67 people who ranged in age from 18 to 62 years old were arrested and taken to the PSP Philadelphia Barracks, where they were processed and later released with summons to appear in court.
Philadelphia Police also confirmed that officers arrested at least two people in connection to the disruption and issued citations.
