The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, along with police, said they rescued 27 dogs from a home.

Officials said the owner relinquished 20 eight-week-old puppies and seven adult dogs that were kept in poor conditions. They were all golden retrievers.We will be seeking fosters," a statement from RISPCA said. "Depending on health status they may be ready for foster this weekend." Hopkinton Police Chief Mark Carrier said an investigation began earlier this week when someone who bought a puppy at the home made a complaint about the condition of the property.
When investigators arrived, they found several adult dogs penned up outside in kennels. When they approached the residence, they detected an overwhelming order emanating from inside the house," according to a news release. Police said conditions were so "deplorable" that officers had to wear protective gear inside. They said several dogs were penned up outside and that a crate kennel inside held 20 puppies.No charges were filed immediately, but the chief said investigators will be reviewing the case.
