Powerball lottery tickets are displayed at the New Hampshire General Store along Route 93 South, Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, in Hooksett, N.H. As jackpots climb to $1 billion or more, sales increase dramatically but still usually cover only about half of the possible combinations.Of course, millions or people do win smaller prizes that range from $2 to $2 million.
