The spectral narrowing in the latter case reveals the differences in carrier mobility in different regions of the conduction band—a property which has not previously been observed with near-field LTEM. Then, by pumping with blue light, we present the first near-field THz emission from bulk Si. We show that the strength of the emission is as sensitive to changes in carrier concentration as a traditional THz s-SNOM measurement.
