THE National Electrification Administration (NEA) on Thursday said its goal of providing electricity to the entire country by 2028 will be delayed.

THE National Electrification Administration on Thursday said its goal of providing electricity to the entire country by 2028 will be delayed.Speaking to the Manila Times during NEA 's 55th anniversary celebration, NEA administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda could not confirm how many years the target will be set back. But he added the goal will be achieved, only at a slower pace.

The NEA chief noted that, at present, the agency's rural electrification program has attained an 89-percent completion rate and is aiming to reach 90 to 91 percent by the end of the year.As of June 30, Luzon has 94-percent electrification with 7,599,129 connections; Visayas at 91 percent with 4,275,428 connections; and Mindanao at 79 percent with 4,356,292 connections.For 2025, Almeda said part of NEA's focus is to improve Mindanao's electrification rate.
