According to NDP Leader Carla Beck and education critic Matt Love on Oct. 10, 2023, parents and administrators last June toured local MLAs — including the Saskatchewan Party’s Gordon Wyant and Marv Friesen — through Monique-Rousseau elementary school, showing them a large hole in the ceiling. Learning spaces were also crowded because of water damage in the building.

The Saskatchewan Party government on Tuesday was preparing to introduce legislation and invoke the notwithstanding clause over its pronoun policy in schools. According to the NDP on Tuesday, parents and administrators last June toured local MLAs — including the Saskatchewan Party’s Gordon Wyant and Marv Friesen — through the school, showing them a large hole in the ceiling. There were also crowded learning spaces that were the result of water damage in the building.
