San Ramon Valley unleashes running game in big NCS Division II semifinal win over Foothill.

DANVILLE — If it wasn’t clear San Ramon Valley High had more going for it than the right arm of quarterback Luke Baker, it’s obvious now.

The Wolves will get another shot at the Cougars in the final, as Campolindo beat Rancho Cotate 42-41. “We try to play play balanced. I know we’ve thrown for a lot of yards this year but that’s just a function I think of how teams have played us,” San Ramon coach Aaron Becker said. “You can’t take anything for granted. We figured they’d make some adjustments in their game. I I think we came out early and smacked them with that first down run and it set the tone.”

Foothill, which had a five-game win streak snap and ended its season at 7-5, didn’t get much going until the second half. Chris Lawson scored on touchdown passes from Erik Olsen from 17 and 30 yards, the last one coming in the final play in the game.
