The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Sunday said that it will be on heightened alert until the second week of May to prepare for the holidays after the Holy Week.
Interviewed on super Radyo dzBB, NCRPO chief Police Major General Edgar Okubo, said that while on heightened alert, only 5% of their forces would be allowed to go on leave.
He, however, pointed out that they have not yet received threats and will just continue deploying personnel, especially tonight and tomorrow where an influx of passengers from provinces are expected to arrive back in Metro Manila. “Naka-heightened alert ang buong NCRPO at ipatutupad namin ito hanggang sa month of May, hanggang siguro sa second week ng month of May... Tuloy-tuloy ang deployment namin dahil maraming mga holidays niyan, including ang May 1 na isang malaking Labor Day,” Okubo said.
He also said that the conduct of Holy Week was generally peaceful, and no significant incidents have been recorded.
