THE National Capital Region has been placed under a state of calamity amid the onslaught of the combined effects of habagat and Typhoon Carina .The Metro Manila Council approved the motion to declare a state of calamity in Metro Manila made by San Juan City Mayor Francis Tolentino and seconded by Mayor Lani Cayetano during a meeting presided over by Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr..Carina intensifies into super typhoon.
She said 30 main roads were currently impassable due to massive flooding.In Navotas, 80 percent of the barangays were flooded while in Caloocan, over 3,000 individuals were displaced.Abalos also noted massive flooding in Marikina, Manila, as well as Pasig City, Valenzuela and Malabon.The DILG secretary urged the Metro Manila mayors to help each other for the sake of the public.
