The NCISverse will kick off the new year in a big way! This January, NCIS, NCISLA, & NCISHawaii are all uniting for a 3-episode crossover event.
NCIS is planning a big three-way crossover to start the new year. NCIS has been one of the most dominant procedurals on television, beginning in 2003 on CBS with the original. Though a spinoff of JAG itself, the brand has since been cemented as very much its own thing.
The franchise has expanded to include NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawaii. Now, it's been confirmed that the three dramas will unite in an unprecedented way. As reported by Collider, the hit NCIS franchise will be at the center of a special three-hour crossover event. The original NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and NCIS: Hawaii teams will cross paths in what CBS describes as the “long-awaited, first-ever NCISverse crossover.” The event will premiere on January 2, at 8 PM EST, kicking off with the NCIS episode titled "Too Many Cooks." From there, it will continue with the Hawaii episode "Deep Fake." It concludes with NCIS: Los Angeles and the episode called "A Long Time Coming."What We Know About The NCIS Crossover The big event will begin by bringing together characters from each individual NCIS show to celebrate the retirement of their former professor. However, while in DC for this celebration, the teams will have to investigate that same professor's suicide. From there, NCIS: Hawaii will pick up the same mystery and escalate the stakes as key characters — including Sam — are abducted. It all ends up linking back to the mysterious suicide. Finally, NCIS: Los Angeles will wrap up the trilogy in a significant way when each member of the team learns that a hitman is out to kill them and the bounties are worth $200,000. The crossover will include several familiar faces from the NCIS world, including Gary Cole, Wilmer Valderrama, Chris O'Donnell, Vanessa Lachey, and Yasmine Al-Bustami. They'll each be representing their respective shows. Although the NCIS universe has included plenty of crossovers throughout its run, the January event marks the first time that the three series will be linking up on such a scale. Since the high-profile exit of Mark Harmon as Gibbs, the original NCIS has faced some stumbles, but this crossover event points to an evolution for the series. If the crossover proves to be a success in terms of ratings, it's possible that CBS will follow the example of NBC's Law & Order and make large-scale, intricate crossovers more of a regular occurrence. But at least for the first of these, the writers have chosen to go with a solid procedural approach: make the case familiar to the heroes, make it personal, and see how that alters the equation. It might show a different side to the NCIS characters that audiences think they know.
