” In the NCIS Season 23 finale, Mateo, played by Patrick Keleher, toured the NCIS building. However, he turned down the cyber internship opportunity and the chance to work for the law enforcement agency, saying it wasn’t for him. Dr. Jimmy Palmer later informed Torres that Mateo used a workstation to fill out an application. While investigating this, the latter did not find it.
Becoming suspicious, Torres confronted Mateo in an alley about this, with the latter urging him to drop it. Revealing he was armed, Mateo warned that they were likely being watched. Subsequently, someone fired a gunshot, but the episode ended before revealing who did it, what happened, or who died because of it. Viewers will likely find out what exactly happened and who got shot once NCIS returns to the small screen.
The show scored aearlier this year. It is expected to premiere in the fall as part of the 2026-2027 television season.
