An NCAA Tournament team just lost its head coach to another program days after suffering a first round loss.

Bulls will be looking for a new head coach for the second year in a row with Bryan Hodgson leaving the program just days after a first roundat Providence following South Florida's 83-79 loss to the Cardinals in which the team missed 20 of its first 21 three point attempts.

Despite the poor shooting effort, the head coach never turned his back on the team. “I know the critics will say we took too many 3s. I think we missed some really good ones. Did we take some bad ones? Sure,” he said. “But we’ve had our identity offensively all year. It’s been very successful, most efficient offense in the history of the program.”“USF is a phenomenal place. Very appreciative to the administration there for believing in me,” Hodgson said following the loss. “When they hired me, I had two years of head-coaching experience under my belt. It was a very, very sought-after job. They had guys that had been coaching for 25, 30 years that wanted that job. I had never been to anbefore as a head coach. So they took a chance on me, and I’ll forever be grateful for that.” Hodgson will take over for Kim English at Providence after three years of failing to make the NCAA Tournament. The head coach has enjoyed a meteoric rise throughout the collegiate ranks as he put the finishing touches on just his third season as a head coach. Prior to his one-year stint at South Florida, which included a 25-9 record, Hodgson spent two seasons at Arkansas State where he 45-28 record and made an appearance in the CBI and NIT.
