After the loss to Louisiana on Sunday, Texas baseball will miss out on the College World Series for a second consecutive season.
COLLEGE STATION — Texas entered the NCAA Tournament hoping to make the College World Series . The Longhorns didn’t even make it past College Station. UT coach David Pierce had described the Longhorns ’ regular season as chock full of “ups and downs.” As for the postseason? That was one up and two downs for the downtrodden Longhorns , a prideful program that will miss out on the eight-team CWS for a second consecutive season.
Now Pierce’s future with the Longhorns is in question — and he drew questions about it following another failure to win a national title with a program that won six prior to his arrival. “As long as the University of Texas gives me the opportunity, they’ll get everything I have,” Pierce said following Sunday’s loss. “… The question of will I return, I mean, that’s not in my hands. I know how well that our team plays, and I know how our staff has worked.
