The NBC10 and T62 weather teams host the 12th annual Weather Education Day before the Phillies -Reds game on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The 12th annual Weather Education Day — featuring the NBC10 First Alert Weather team — took place at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday before the Phillies – Reds game.
NBC10’s Tim Furlong has some of the highlights. The NBC10 First Alert and Telemundo 62 Primera Alerta weather teams returned to Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, for the 12Thousands of students and teachers from across the region learned fascinating facts about the weather from meteorologists Justin Godynick, Robert Johnson, Brittney Shipp, Bill Henley, Marvin Gomez and Janet Bolivar as well as members of the Franklin Institute.
Students also got the chance to be a meteorologist for the day and delivered the forecast in front of a green screen.
"It's a once in a lifetime experience," Will Welcher, a teacher at Cinnaminson Middle School, told NBC10. "It gets them out of the classroom and gives them a firsthand approach to it. ", it was the hottest Weather Education Day on record. But that didn't stop the students and teachers in the crowd from enjoying the festivities.
"It is hot. It is sweltering hot but it's OK," Ali Palat, a sixth grade science teacher, said.
"We are loving it and it's better than being in the hot classroom and we are having fun and learning at the same time. "After the event, the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Cincinnati Reds in a game that will air on NBC10 at 1:05 p.m. ET.
