At least 12 families discovered after their loved one's death that their body was donated for research without consent, NBC News found.
The University of North Texas Health Science Center has suspended its body donation program after an NBC News investigation revealed unclaimed bodies were used for science without consent from families looking for their loved ones. Over 830 unclaimed bodies sent to the UNT Health Science Center from Dallas and Tarrant Counties have been used by medical schools and companies for research purposes since an agreement made in 2019, NBC News reported Monday.
