The initiative features news coverage, original specials and storytelling during the 100 days leading up to Independence Day 2026. “Our country’s 250th anniversary is a significant milestone for all Americans, and a meaningful opportunity to bring us together to share our pride as citizens, recognize our nation’s achievements, and honor our rich history,” said Valari Staab, chairman of NBCU Local., an international celebration taking place July 3-8 in the Port of New York and New Jersey. The event will bring together tall ships, naval vessels, and aircraft from 46 nations, one of the largest gatherings of its kind in U.S. history. On July 4, NBCUniversal News Group will present six hours of live coverage from New York Harbor.Additional programming includes a special edition of “Open House” with behind-the-scenes tours of international tall ships, and coverage following the flotilla’s journey from New Orleans to Norfolk and Baltimore en route to New York. Other highlights include a “Destination America” edition of “1st Look,” lifestyle features on global cultures and cuisine, and coverage ofStations will also cover local celebrations across the country, including Philadelphia’s
