The former Milwaukee Buck and Atlanta Hawk said that his child's diagnosis led to him getting checked for the disorder himself.
But what he decided to open up about on Friday might be just as impactful.
Snell said he himself got checked out after his son was diagnosed with the disorder, noting he has always felt like he was different but couldn’t put a finger on why. Snell is a 6-foot-6, 213-pound wing who starred at the University of New Mexico from 2010-2013, after which the Chicago Bulls selected him 20th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft. He told Today’s Craig Melvin he’s unsure if he would’ve ever made the NBA had he been diagnosed as a child growing up in Los Angeles, given how people viewed autism at that point in time.
