KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Nazif Najib has conceded defeat after failing to win Umno Youth deputy chief post.
Nazif said he accepted the results and would continue to fight for the party, urging other members to do the same.
Nazif, who is the son of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak only managed to secure 11 votes and lost to Larkin assemblyman Hairi Md Shah with 74 votes, followed by Ikmal Hazlan Ikmal Hisham with 69 voites, according to unofficial results shared by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan on Twitter.
Official results will only be announced by election committee chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad once all votes are tallied and tabulated.
