Don Muncy, a 100-year-old Navy veteran airman who served in World War II and Korea, flew on a 'Dream Flight' over Ohio on Tuesday during the organization's 6,000th trip.
Don Muncy, 100, is a U.S. Navy airman veteran who served during both World War II and the Korean War. He was honored by Dream Flights with its 6,000th veteran flight on July 25, 2023.airman who served the nation in two wars took to the skies over the heartland again yesterday.
Muncy, who served the United States in both World War II and in Korea, took cell phone video and snapped photos from the front seat of the open-cockpit 1942 Boeing biplane piloted by Dream Flights founder Darryl Fisher. Dream Flights was joined by Veterans United Home Loans in the effort to"honor our veterans and enhance their lives with an adventure of a lifetime," according to a release.
"We were in the library when the radio came on. That was my knowledge of [the attack] right away. In the military you’re always prepared for things. So everything on base [tightened] up after that.", serving at the naval air station on the Aleutian islands in Alaska. He later became an official with the Federal Aviation Administration and a licensed commercial pilot.
