Just seven years after her maiden deployment in 2016, the LCS Coronado is the third littoral combat ship to be decommissioned. The Navy bought 12 LCS's in the 2010's and dealt with multiple major engineering breakdowns in the first year. More info:

SAN DIEGO – The LCS Coronado is one of one-dozen Naval littoral combat ships that have proven burdensome for the military to maintain since their commission in the mid-2010’s. Now, seven years after her maiden deployment in 2016, the LCS Coronado is the third littoral combat ship to be decommissioned.

Within the first year of the LCS’s ship class’ commission, at least four major engineering issues caused many to question the combat capabilities of the vessels. The LCS Coronado had to return to port just two months into its maiden deployment. The first four the ships were later designated as training ships.

Each of this ships cost over $350 million and have costed more since to maintain. The Navy announced that the LCS Fort Worth will soon join her three sisters in retirement.
