The Navy issued a fleet-wide advisory clarifying uniform regulations for sailors in San Diego and other U.S. Navy towns. The advisory states that sailors are free to wear their uniforms as usual but should be mindful of their surroundings. This comes amidst concerns related to the ongoing tensions with Iran.
There has been some confusion in San Diego and other Navy towns about whether sailors can wear their uniforms in public while the U.S. is at war with Iran , leading to a fleet-wide advisory on Tuesday. “There is no directive on uniform wear for Sailors in the continental United States traveling to and from work, out in town, or at off-base events,” the advisory says.
“Sailors can wear uniforms as they normally do, but should always be aware of their surroundings and act accordingly for their own safety. “Some commands may have recommended their Sailors to consider not wearing uniforms in public, at mass gatherings, or on public transportation.
