The Navotas City government will deploy free shuttle services for public commuters in the city during the weeklong transportation strike of public utility vehicle groups on Monday, March 6 to 12.
“In the instance that the weeklong transport strike push through, we are ready to provide free shuttle services to Navoteños. Our crisis management team have already met and set plans to counter the impact of the activity on our constituents’ work schedules and daily routines,” Navotas City Mayor John Reynald “John Rey” Tiangco said in a press statement on Friday, March 3.
He said 18 barangays in the city have committed to utilizing their service vehicles to provide free rides within Navotas City. It said the service vehicles will prioritize the employees of the local government to avoid disturbance of the government services. Drivers of public utility vehicles is expected to conduct a week-long transport strike against the impending jeepney and UV Express phaseout.
At least 40,000 PUV drivers are expected to participate in the strikes in the National Capital Region .
