Nature will test San Diego County's patience this week with more cool, cloudy weather
San Diego’s “May gray” weather will shift to “June gloom” this week and coastal dwellers will be lucky if the sun makes so much as an afternoon cameo.
In a pattern that has dominated for weeks, a low pressure trough will send moisture ashore, creating clouds that will flow far inland. The National Weather Service says the marine layer will be 3,000 to 4,000 feet thick on Tuesday and Wednesday, which will likely produce sporadic drizzle and light rain west of the mountains. The clouds will weaken a bit later in the week. But forecasters say San Diego’s daytime will be in the 65 to 68 degree range through Sunday. The seasonal high is 70, a reading that the city has only recorded twice this month.
Forecasters also expect that San Diego will finish May with a below average monthly temperature for the seventh month in a row.
