NWS Indianapolis has faced racist comments after posting in Spanish, the second most spoken language in the state. Here's what they're doing about it.

, the National Weather Service in Indianapolis brought the heat Tuesday, striking a blow for inclusivity.for making some of its posts in English and Spanish – it noted Spanish, spoken in about 300,000 Hoosier households, is the second most spoken language in the state – the account vowed to boot those with racist responses.“Unfortunately, there has been a lot of racist comments on our posts because they are not in English.

“Thank you! It’s unfortunate that some people are offended by a government agency trying to keep people safe by posting something in multiple languages…” Marina Karu responded to the weather service’s stand.Detractors were still vocal, though. “Well since you don’t believe English is the United States language then I guess I'll unfollow this page,” Bill Benedict announced in response.Contact IndyStar reporter Cheryl V.
