Dharug artist Billy Bain's work is part of the National Gallery's 'Ever Present' exhibition, where more than 260 works will be the largest display of Indigenous art in Canberra.
Dharug artist Billy Bain said it feels surreal to see his work in the National Gallery.After travelling from Perth to Singapore and New Zealand, the NGA's ' Ever Present ' exhibition has finally made its way back to Canberra .
"So you know, to go from a tiny little basement in Avalon working there to the National Gallery of Australia within that time is just, yeah, so surreal." Tina Baum, senior curator of First Nations art at the National Gallery of Australia, hopes the collection can challenge nations of what ATSI art is.
