The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would complement the Freedom to Vote Act by modernizing and restoring the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Harrisburg Chapter, is committed to empowering and enhancing the lives of Black women through advocacy in health, education, economic empowerment, and public policy. In this critical election year, it is paramount that we protect and uplift the voices of our community, especially as we engage in our most important institution – our democracy.

The Freedom to Vote Act would expand early voting, safeguard access to mail-in voting nationwide, and restore electoral integrity. This bill would also help end the discriminatory practice of partisan gerrymandering that severely impacts the representation of minority voters in our communities. We recognize U.S. Sen. Bob Casey for advancing these bills in Congress and ask that the full Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation work to pass both bills as soon as possible to help secure and protect the right to vote for everyone.
