Nathan Carman, a New England man who was accused of killing his mother 'at high sea' during a fishing trip nearly seven years ago, has died while awaiting his trial, federal authorities said Thursday.
The cause of Carman's death was not immediately known. One of Carman’s lawyers, Martin Minnella, said he was told of Carman’s death by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Carman, of Vernon, Vermont, was allegedly motivated to kill his mother -- and grandfather -- in hopes of inheriting money, according to an indictment from 2022. Chakalos "set up two bank accounts for which Nathan Carman was the beneficiary upon Chakalos's death."
