Natasha Lyonne as Charlie in Poker Face season 1, episode 8 looking annoyed.
Natasha Lyonne's outstanding performance in the new Netflix film His Three Daughters could win her an Academy Award. Lyonne, who is best known for her work in celebrated series such as Orange is the New Black and Russian Doll, plays Rachel in His Three Daughters, the youngest of three sisters who are forced to come together to say goodbye to their dying father in his New York apartment.
1 Other early contenders for Best Actress in 2025 are mostly the stars of movies that have yet to have a wide release in theaters but have premiered at various film festivals. Angelina Jolie stars in the upcoming Netflix biopic Maria and is an early frontrunner to win her first Best Actress Oscar and second career Academy Award.
Not only was Lyonne deserving of the Emmy for Poker Face, which returns to Peacock for season 2 in 2025, but she also deserved more acknowledgment for her Russian Doll series. The series won 3 Emmys for costumes, cinematography, and production design, but did not take home any of the major awards despite Lyonne being nominated for Best Actress, Best Writing in a Comedy Series, and Best Comedy Series. She and Amy Poehler created the series alongside Leslye Headland.
