Marshall Lee Myers, the director of student support at Natalia Independent School District, was fired after allegedly threatening to kill his colleagues. The district alleges that Myers made the threat on September 26, 2024, and that another employee reported feeling unsafe. Myers exercised his right to a termination hearing, but an independent examiner found that the district met its burden of proof and recommended proceeding with the termination. Natalia ISD has a zero-tolerance policy for workplace violence and stated that it will take swift and decisive action to protect the safety and well-being of its staff and students.

A Natalia Independent School District administrator has been fired after allegedly threatening to kill his colleagues. On Monday, Natalia ISD trustees voted 5-0 to terminate Marshall Lee Myers, the district’s director of student support and a former principal. The Medina County district alleges that on September 26, 2024, Myers looked at another employee and said, “If anybody kills my son’s college record, I’m going to kill you all.

” The employee reported feeling shocked and unsafe by the statement, and another employee corroborated the threat. Natalia ISD immediately placed Myers on administrative leave with pay and launched an investigation. On October 10, the board voted to follow Superintendent Lana Collavo’s recommendation to terminate him. Texas law allows educators to request a hearing after receiving notice of the proposed decision to terminate their contract. Myers exercised his right to a termination hearing before an independent examiner appointed by Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath. The hearings took place last month. On January 31, the district announced that the examiner found that Natalia ISD 'met its burden of proof by a preponderance of evidence' that the allegations against Myers occurred and recommended proceeding with the termination. Natalia ISD serves 1,265 students across four campuses. The district hired Myers as the high school’s assistant principal in 2020, Collavo confirmed on Monday. He transitioned to the role of head principal for two and a half years before taking on a job as the district’s director of instructional technology during the 2023-2024 school year. Myers started a new job as the head of student support this school year. The district stated that Myers had previously been placed on administrative leave in 2023 “and given the same warnings.” Back then, he received permission to come on campus from then-Superintendent Harry Piles. This time, Myers entered campus without permission, engaging in “insubordination or failure to comply with official directives,” the district said. In its Facebook post, Natalia ISD emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for workplace violence and its commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment for all students and staff. “Threats of violence have no place in the workplace, and the district will take swift and decisive action to protect the safety and well-being of its staff and students,” it stated
