The Tennessee Titans and Nashville Mayor John Cooper have reportedly agreed to a deal for a new stadium.
The announcement of the $2.2 billion stadium deal could happen as soon as Monday, per a report from Axios.Nashville's Metro Council still needs to approve the deal before it can become official. The terms of the deal reportedly would include the Titans providing $800 million and $500 million from the state, among other funding sources.
The proposed stadium would be located east of Nissan Stadium, where the Titans currently play, along the East Bank and would be able to host Super Bowls, College Football Playoff games, and other major events. The Titans have played at Nissan Stadium since 1999. The reported deal for a new stadium in Tennessee comes as the Washington Commanders are still searching for a new stadium deal to replace the aging FedEx Field. The Commanders, Bills, and Titans have been the teams in the NFL most interested in getting new stadiums.A bid from Virginia to lure the Commanders to build a new stadium was dropped in June after various controversies have plagued the Commanders, including allegations of financial misconduct and a toxic work environment.
