Stocks fell on Thursday, as Wall Street reacted to a mixed bag of corporate earnings, including disappointing results from Tesla. The Dow fell 0.33%. The S&P 500 dropped 0.59%. The Nasdaq lost 0.80%.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk told investors during his first quarter earnings call that he anticipates electric vehicle-related commodity prices will remain volatile until next spring.
"I think we're in uncertain times. And if somebody's got a crystal ball they can lend me, I'd really like to borrow it. But these are uncertain times," said Musk. "I anticipate that monetary policy will need to move somewhat further into restrictive territory this year, with the fed funds rate moving above 5% and the real fed funds rate staying in positive territory for some time," she said during a speech in Akron, Ohio.
